My fellow countrymen, and women, have you voted?
There isn't much time left in the day, especially for all of you on the East Coast.
Voting is a privilege, you know, but it's also a duty. It is the only influence you have over our large government with the exception of your freedom of speech. It is your chance to steer things in the right direction. Think about how you will feel if you don't vote and the election is tight? You may still have the right to free speech after that, but it will be hollow.
You have much more influence over local and state elections. These branches of government have much more influence over you. Think about it. School funding, taxes, park zoning, laws that affect small businesses.
The research to find out about the smaller issues is so much easier using the Internet these days. Shoot, I even heard some information on Facebook.
I voted regarding the rights of gay and lesbians, about how schools are funded, and about legalization of marijuana. There were lots of different folks running for office. I tell you, some of them are certifiable. You can tell by reading their statement in the voter's pamphlet. That part is actually entertaining.
So vote. Vote now. Vote wisely.
Thank you for listening, jb
